How to repair Skyworth TB5 Series and UB5 Series Standby Only Problem? (32TB5000 / 32TB5050, 40TB5000 / 40TB5050, 43TB5000 / 43TB5050, 43UB5000 / 43UB5500 / 43UB5560, 50UB5000 / 50UB5500 / 50UB5560, 55UB5000 / 55UB5500 / 50UB5560)

Nature of Defect: Standby only / Red light Only

Test Point:

  • Birds eye view of the test point. One test prod on SMD voltage regulator IC pin and the other test prod on LAN port. Please refer to the image below;

In the absent of digital multi-meter or VOM, the “QOU1” SMD voltage regulator IC produce unusual heat or overheated. Touch it with your bare hand and feel.

Good Wi-Fi Dongle and Defective Wi-Fi Dongle

Good Wi-Fi Dongle: 

If the reading on your VOM is “0.026 V” on DC, the Wi-Fi adopter is good. Please refer to the image below;
If you encounter the standby only defect on the TV but the result on your VOM appears to be “0.026” or like the one above. Then you don’t need to replace the built-in Wi-Fi dongle.

Good Wi-Fi Dongle:

If the reading on your VOM is “lower or higher than 0.026” on DC, the Wi-Fi adopter is defective. Please refer to the image below;

If you encounter the standby only defect on the TV and the result on your VOM appears to be higher or lower than “0.026” (Please refer to image above). Then you need to replaced the built-in Wi-Fi dongle.
