How to Update Your Skyworth 32STD5500 Android TV

Is your Skyworth 32STD5500 Android TV starting to feel a little sluggish? Are your streaming apps taking forever to load, or worse, crashing mid-binge? Often, the easiest fix to give your 32-inch borderless smart TV a performance boost is a simple software update.

Because this model runs on Android 11, keeping the software updated patches security flaws, maximizes app compatibility on the Google Play Store, and optimizes the system's Trochilus Extreme Picture Engine for crisp visuals.

Depending on whether your TV is working normally or throwing a tantrum (like getting stuck on the boot logo), you have two distinct ways to update. Here is exactly how to do both.

Method 1: The Easy Way (Over-The-Air Update)

If your TV is booting up normally and connected to stable Wi-Fi, you can let Skyworth's servers do the heavy lifting right from your remote control.

1.Open Settings:Use your remote.

Press the Settings (gear icon) or Home button on your remote. Navigate to the top right corner of the screen and select the Settings gear.

2.Navigate to System Preferences:Locate Device Info.

Scroll down and select Device Preferences (on some regional firmware layouts, this may simply say System or About TV directly).

3.Select About:Access system updates.

Click on About at the very top of the list to view your system's identity data.

4.Trigger System Update:Download and Install.

Click on System Update or Software Update. The TV will automatically scan Skyworth's network. If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download it.

Method 2: The Manual Way (USB Local Update)

If your TV is experiencing network failures, or if it is stuck in a frustrating "boot loop" on the Android logo screen, you will need to manually flash the firmware using a USB drive.

Step 2: Prepare and Copy to Your USB Drive

    Prerequisites:

    • A USB 2.0 flash drive (16GB or smaller works best).

    • A computer to download and format the file.

    • The official firmware file (usually formatted as a .pkg or .zip file) obtained directly from Skyworth's regional support center.

1.Format the USB Drive to FAT32:Crucial first step.

Plug the USB drive into your computer. Right-click the drive, select Format, and choose FAT32. Do not use NTFS or exFAT, as the TV's basic bootloader cannot read them.

    2.Load the Firmware:Keep it clean.

Copy the downloaded official firmware file (e.g., a .pkg file) directly into the root directory of your USB drive. Do not put it inside a folder, or the TV will fail to locate it.

3.The Force Boot Trick (For Stuck TVs):For boot loops only.

Unplug your TV from the wall socket. Insert the prepared USB drive into the TV's USB 2.0 port.

    4.Trigger the Upgrade:Power cycle.

Press and hold the physical Power Button located on the bottom or side panel of the TV itself (not the remote). While holding it down, plug the power cord back into the wall socket.

5.Wait for the Progress Bar:Do not interrupt.

Keep holding the button until you see a blue or grey "Upgrading Software" progress bar on the screen, then release it. Leave the TV entirely alone for 5 to 15 minutes until it automatically reboots.

⚠️ Critical Warning: Never turn off your TV, pull out the power plug, or remove the USB flash drive while a software upgrade is in progress. Interrupting the installation process can permanently damage your TV's internal motherboard ("bricking" the device).
