Fixing the Skyworth and Coocaa Mini LED Boot Loop: USB Recovery Guide

Your premium viewing experience shouldn’t be cut short by a frozen screen. If you own a Skyworth or Coocaa Mini LED or QLED TV and find yourself staring at a logo that never fades, you are likely dealing with a firmware "boot loop."

This issue is common in modern smart TVs where the operating system fails to initialize. Fortunately, this isn't a hardware failure; it is a software glitch that can be fixed at home using a USB flash drive. Below is a comprehensive guide to recovering your TV.

Supported Models

This recovery method applies to a wide range of Skyworth and Coocaa high-end models, specifically the QM80H and X66H Mini LED series, as well as several QLED variants:

  • QD-Mini LED: 55QM80H, 65QM80H, 75QM80H, 55X66H, 65X66H, 75X66H.

  • 4K QLED: 43QE72G, 55QE72G, 43QE63G, 55QE63G, 43QE63A, 55QE63A, 43GE6200, 50GE6200, 55GE6200, 65GE6200, 43GE7300, 50GE7300, 55GE7300, 65GE7300.

Preparation: What You’ll Need

Before you begin, ensure you have the following:

  1. USB Flash Drive: Ideally 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB.

  2. A Computer: To format the drive and transfer files.

  3. Firmware Files: You must obtain the following two specific .pkg files from Skyworth support:

    • upgrade_image_no_tvcertificate_project_id_persist.pkg

    • upgrade_image_tvconfig.pkg

Step 1: Prepare the USB Flash Drive

The TV’s internal recovery system is picky about file systems. It typically only recognizes FAT32.

  1. Plug your USB drive into your computer.

  2. Right-click the drive and select Format.

  3. Choose FAT32 as the File System.

  4. Click Start. Note: This will erase everything on the drive.

Step 2: Copy the Update Files

Once formatted, move both .pkg files directly onto the root directory of your USB drive. Do not put them inside a folder, or the TV will not be able to locate them. Ensure the filenames are exactly as listed above; do not rename them.

Step 3: Initiate the Hardware Update

This is the critical "force flash" stage:

  1. Power Off: Unplug the TV from the wall outlet completely.

  2. Insert USB: Plug the flash drive into the USB 2.0 port (usually the black port) on the side or back of the TV.

  3. Power On: Plug the TV back into the power outlet.

Note: For these specific Mini LED and QLED models, the update usually triggers automatically upon sensing the USB files; you may not need to hold down a physical power button.

Step 4: The Upgrade Process

If done correctly, the screen will shift from the stuck logo to an Upgrade Prompt with a progress bar.

⚠️ CRITICAL WARNING: Do not turn off the power, unplug the TV, or remove the USB drive while the progress bar is moving. Interrupting this process can "brick" your mainboard, requiring a professional hardware replacement.

Step 5: Completion

After the progress reaches 100%, the system will automatically restart. You will know the process was successful when you see the "Google TV" or "Skyworth" logo transition into the initial setup screen. You can now safely remove the USB drive.

Pro-Tips for Success

  • Port Selection: If the update doesn't start, try a different USB port. Some models prioritize specific ports for firmware recovery.

  • Drive Size matters: If the TV isn't reading the drive, ensure it is 32GB or smaller. Larger drives (64GB+) often use exFAT or NTFS by default, which the TV's bootloader cannot read.

  • File Integrity: If the update fails or hangs at 1%, try downloading the files again or using a different USB brand.

By following these steps, you can bypass the "stuck on logo" error and get back to enjoying the deep blacks and vibrant colors of your Skyworth or Coocaa Mini LED display.
